Happy New Year everyone! The start of the year is the perfect time to reflect on how far I have come, and what I want to accomplish in 2018. Last year was pretty successful for me in starting out my health and fitness journey. In the spring I discovered the wonderful parkrun community, and have already completed 33 parkruns in 5 different locations. I spent the last 3 months of the year following a low-carb way of eating and have already lost 17lbs, bringing my BMI back into the healthy zone and putting me well on my way to my goal weight.
Here are my health and fitness goals for 2018:
1) Continue to follow the low-carb way of eating, and get below 10stone (140lbs). My dream weight would be 9st7 (133lbs), which I haven’t been since my early 20s. Let’s see how close I can get!
2) To complete 50 parkruns. I put in a concerted effort over the winter, even completing a double parkrun on New Years Day, to take my current tally up to 33 parkruns.
3) To run sub-30 minutes at my local parkrun. I’ve broken the 30 minute barrier a couple of times at other locations, but Walthamstow is a cross-country hilly course, so this will be a challenge.
4) To beat my current 10k PB of 1hr08:59. I have a few 10k races lined up so will be working on my distance training throughout the year.
I think it’s going to be a good year! I’m looking forward to revisiting these goals later in the year to see how I’m getting on.
